Installing a swivel seat in a cargo van can be a great way to add flexibility and functionality to your vehicle. Here are the general steps you can follow to install a swivel seat:

  1. Remove the existing seat: Begin by removing the existing seat from the van. Depending on the make and model of the van, this may require removing bolts or screws that hold the seat in place.

  2. Remove the existing seat base: Once the seat is removed, you will need to remove the existing seat base. This will typically require removing bolts or screws that secure the base to the van's floor.

  3. Install the swivel base: After removing the old base, you can install the new swivel base in its place. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation, and secure the base with bolts or screws.

  4. Attach the seat to the swivel base: Once the swivel base is in place, you can attach the seat to it. Again, follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation, and ensure that the seat is securely attached.

  5. Test the swivel seat: Once the seat is installed, test it to make sure that it swivels smoothly and does not wobble or feel unstable. If everything looks good, you're all set!

Keep in mind that the specific steps for installing a swivel seat may vary depending on the make and model of your van, as well as the specific swivel base and seat that you are installing. It's always a good idea to carefully read the manufacturer's instructions before beginning the installation process and to seek the help of a professional if you're not comfortable with any aspect of the installation.

We live in a 2014 Ford E250 self converted Cargo Van. When we decided to put in a swivel seat on the passager side it was purely to improve the functionality of the “living” area of the van. It was a very straightforward process and it was extremely easy to do. The specific swivel base I purchased was specifically designed for this make and model so it was an easy switch as the holes lined up beautifully.

However, the task did take 3 times longer than it should have because I did not have the proper tools to be able to remove the existing bolts. The important thing is to take the time to make sure you are installing it correctly.

Now we are enjoying the comforts of our new swivel seat and the added space it has provided!
