The morning started as any other hiking morning with McDonald's coffee at 6AM! I drove to pick up my hiking buddy and off we went. The drive took about an hour from her house, we arrived to the gate just after 7 AM. The forestry has closed the gates to the parking lot I am assuming due to the amount of people parking like idiots, blocking the home driveways. But that is just speculation so we found a little turn out just south of the gate.
We prepared our gear. Our day packs which permanently contain a first aid kit, water purifier, emergency rations, and change of socks. Added the bladder, snacks and workout gloves. Then off we went.
According to Alltrails.com this hike is a 4.5 mile out and back trail but if you have every actually hiked with us what is written is not what we do because we are there to do more than just simply hike the trail. We take our time, explore the areas and my hiking partner is huge to taking photos.
This hike was not challenging at all along the way there were river crossings, a diverse array of flora and fauna and a variety of terrain with a steady incline, perfect for beginners or those who have been out of the game for a while.
At the end of the trail is a small yet beautiful waterfall to relax, have a quick snack and play in the water a bit. However, to get to the lower falls you have to descend a pretty steep hill be sure to use the rope for stability as it can get a little slippery.
There was almost no one on the trail at the time of arrival. A handful of people passed us on the way up. We were able to spend about 40 minutes at the falls with just one other small group. Just as we were collecting our belongings a scout group of about 50 boys started making there way around the last bend before the falls followed by another vary large group of people.
On our ways down the trail was completely saturated with people. Good thing we arrived early. By the time we made it to the van both sides the entire street had tons of cars.
